Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
Coach: George Perles.
Record at school: 68-56-4 (.547), 53-34-3 (.606) Big 10, 11 years.
1993 record: 6-6 (.500), 4-4 (.500) Big 10, seventh place.
Returning starters: 15: offense 7, defense 8.
Players to watch: WR Mill Coleman, ILB Reggie Garnett, DE Juan Hammonds, TB Duane Goulbourne.
Top newcomer: QB Tony Banks.
Outlook: Perles is on the hot seat and will rely on JC transfer Banks and new defensive coordinator Hank Bullough, who has scrapped Perles’ 4-3 defense he crafted into the Steel Curtain at Pittsburgh. Tough conference will make it hard for Spartans to rise above the pack.
