A Joliet woman faces a Tuesday bond hearing after being arrested for trying to carry a loaded gun into the Will County courthouse.

Yolanda Moore, 24, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and not having a valid firearm owner’s identification card.

The incident took place Monday morning at the courthouse’s security checkpoint. Will County Sheriff’s Deputy Brett Schaeffer noticed the weapon, a .380 handgun with six bullets in the magazine, inside of Moore’s purse as it passed through an X-ray machine.

When confronted by Schaeffer, Moore reportedly said she didn’t know the gun was in her purse and said it belonged to her husband. She was then arrested.
