Lennox Lewis has less of a chance of beating Riddick Bowe any time soon than Evander Holyfield, who at least gets in the ring with him Saturday night.
Or Michael Moorer, who is supposed to be next.
Frank Maloney, Lewis’ manager, said he was “shocked” by the offer made by Rock Newman, Bowe’s manager, for the only heavyweight fight with bite. It was an offer apparently made to refuse-$5 million, with a possible “upside” of $7.5 million, down from $11 million when Lewis’ projected March 5 opponent, Tommy Morrison, was knocked off by Michael Bentt.
Lewis, who lost a $7.5 million pay day then, was looking to fill that date at the new MGM Grand against Bentt, though Jorge Luis Gonzalez also has been mentioned.
Gonzalez could wind up on Lewis’ dance card in June in London, after a Bentt fight. One English source said it was possible $6 million could be available for Lewis with maybe $2 million for his opponent.

But Bentt’s WBO belt might attract double that, or more, for a fight with George Foreman.
Moorer, meanwhile, said he would not step aside from his mandatory WBA and IBF shot against Bowe.
