Merchants and restaurateurs who sell liquor might have to pay the village more for the privilege this year, officials said.
A plan to boost the price of the annual liquor license fees could bring the village thousands of dollars a year to offset rising administrative costs, said Dawn Underhill, assistant to the village manager.

The village lists 69 holders of liquor licenses, Underhill said. Processing each license can cost the village $103 to more than $2,000 in staff time, she said.
Under the proposal, the $820 price of a liquor license application would remain the same, but the cost of renewing licenses would be more, Underhill said. The increases would range from about $5 for a $150 license covering lunch-only beer and wine sales to about $250 for a $2,100 license for full liquor service in a large restaurant, she said.
Applicants also likely would pay an extra $35 for the fingerprinting of liquor license-holders and store managers, a process required by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Illinois State Police.
The plan also calls for merchants caught violating the liquor code to pay the $300 cost of a hearing in most cases.
Village Council members were expected to review the proposal April 5.
