Chicago State: The women’s basketball team was 2-1 over the weekend at the Missouri-Kansas City tournament for independents, beating Northeastern Illinois 77-65 and California State 69-63 before losing to the host team 80-48. The team’s 9-18 finish is its best since 1986-87, when the Cougars were 12-15. Katrina Robinson’s 12.7 average led Cougar scorers.
The Cougars’ wrestling team, which finished 2-12 in dual meets, failed over the weekend to advance anyone past the West Regionals in the NCAA championships. Heavyweight Dale Rowlett won two matches by falls. But in the regional final, after several warnings, he and Valparaiso’s Mike Scime were both disqualified for stalling and there was no winner in the division.
The baseball team is 1-1 on its southern trip, losing 10-2 to Wooster before beating Pfeiffer 11-2.
