The village will use nearly $1.1 million in state motor fuel tax money to fund this year’s roadway maintenance program, Village Council members said Monday.
Commissioners formally agreed that the $900,000 Downers Grove receives annually from the state’s motor fuel tax and about $200,000 in reserve funds will be pumped into an ambitious road repair program targeting 66 streets.
In addition to sealing cracks on 37 miles of streets, the 1993 road maintenance plan calls for repaving and repairing 17 streets, said village manager Kurt Bressner.
