New York Jets coach Bruce Coslet blasted Buffalo Bills coach Marv Levy on Tuesday for accusing Jets players of faking injuries to slow down the Bills`
no-huddle offense Sunday.
”I don`t appreciate this type of attack on my integrity. . . . nobody faked any injuries. And quite frankly, I`m to a point where I`m tired of taking crap from this guy,” Coslet said.
Coslet`s remarks were issued to the press in a 500-word release by the Jets that left no doubt of Coslet`s intent. He also attacked Bills General Manager Bill Polian in writing: ”And while you`re at it, you guys (media) can tell Bill Polian to shove it, too.”
Levy claimed Darrell Davis and Jeff Lageman faked injuries during the Bills` winning drive in the 23-20 game. Levy said the strategy backfired because it allowed Thurman Thomas and James Lofton time to recover from injuries and re-enter the game. Polian said Lonnie Young also was faking after making a hit.
”If you had seen Lonnie Young`s eyes after he had put the hit on their running back, you would know why we were urging Lonnie to stay down,” Coslet said.
