Thinking of complaining to the Federal Communications Commission about the curse words heard in “The Last Dance,” ESPN’s 10-part documentary on Michael Jordan, the 1997-98 NBA championship season and the Chicago Bulls era it brought to a close?

Forget about it.

The FCC has no jurisdiction over basic cable content, only broadcast television and radio. It is not empowered to address vulgarities in the series.

To accommodate a wide range of viewers, especially those who might be sensitive to swear words, a version rated TV-14-L is running simultaneously on ESPN2. Mature language has been bleeped or otherwise obscured.

Episode 4 is rated TV-14-DL, which means there’s also suggestive dialogue.

The unedited version on ESPN is rated TV-MA for mature audiences. It carries a warning that the program contains mature language and viewer discretion is advised.
