Here’s a look at how teams that received the No. 1 draft pick — whether or not they kept it — fared in the next two seasons since 1990, when the playoffs expanded to 12 teams. Fourteen of the 33 teams with the top pick made the playoffs in either of the next two seasons. Of those teams, only five made the playoffs in their first season after securing the top selection.
