Marge nee Haggerty Dunn OBITUARY

Marge Dunn, 96, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, in Downers Grove, Illinois, surrounded by her family. Marjorie Ann Haggerty was born on April 22, 1930, to Yvo and Margaret Haggerty in Chicago, Illinois, joining her older brother, Ed, and sister, Virginia. The family moved to Downers Grove in 1934, and Marge spent most of her life there. She graduated from Downers Grove High School in 1948 and graduated in 1953 from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa and then became a teacher. Marge married Larry Dunn on June 30, 1956, at St. Joseph Church in Downers Grove and spent more than 50 loving years together until Larry’s death in 2007. They raised their family in Downers Grove, where Marge was a homemaker, tutor, and substitute teacher until returning to teach full-time at St. Joseph when her youngest child started school. In 1988 Marge and Larry opened a printing shop in Clarendon Hills, enjoying many active years in the local business community. Marge enjoyed her final years living in the Oak Trace Retirement Community. Her family is especially grateful for the wonderful care and kindness shown to Marge by the Oak Trace staff. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kindness, sunny disposition, and strength. In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Larry Dunn; her brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Jean Haggerty; and her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Paul Springer. Marge is survived by her children, Chris (Cathie) Dunn, Jackie (Mark) Stoll, Jeannie (Jim) Geselbracht, and Mary (Bob) Ploen; her 12 grandchildren, Larry, Michael, Maggie, and Jennifer Dunn; Megan, Mark (Josi), and Ryan Stoll; Sam (Samantha Yee) and Ben (Liv Ross) Geselbracht; and Gracie, Erin, and Brendan Ploen; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St., Downers Grove on October 30th from 3 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4801 Main St., Downers Grove on October 31st at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Marge Dunn may be made to the Endowment Fund of St. Joseph School, Downers Grove, or to Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
