Betty J. Bensen OBITUARY

Betty J. Bensen passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so fiercely. Born in Chicago, Betty grew up above the Bob Inn tavern in Logan Square. She attended St. John Berchmans grammar school and graduated from Josephinum High School. She went on to build a life filled with family, hard work, travel, Elvis, and laughter.

Betty met the love of her life, Don Bensen, at The Library Restaurant. They traveled together and shared a favorite memory of dancing on a Florida beach. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, an avid saver of newspaper clippings, and a volunteer..

She is survived by her children, Michael and Dennis Bender and Susan (Cervando) Chavez; grandchildren, Scarlett, Bella, Jack, and Jordan; and siblings, Mariann Gowen, DeDe (Mike) Unger, and Jimmy (Annie) Hanson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Harold Hanson; brother, Terry Hanson; and beloved Don.

Visitation Sunday, October 4, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd., Mount Prospect. Visitation Monday, October 5, 10:00 AM until Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Raymond de Penafort, Elmhurst Road (Route 83) and Lincoln Street, in Mt. Prospect. Interment to follow at Eden Cemetery.
