The Goodman Theatre said Friday that the planned performances at Indian Boundary Park (Friday) and Portage Park (Saturday) this weekend of “Fannie Lou Hamer: Speak On It!,” a touring outdoor show starring E. Faye Butler, have been canceled.
A person who has been associated with the production has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, a spokesperson confirmed, and thus a testing protocol has been put in place, following the guidelines of a variety of entities including recommendations from the Actor’s Equity union and the Chicago Department of Public Health, among others.
The show has been a popular success. The Goodman said that it hoped to reschedule the missed performances at some point in the future, and that all remaining shows remain on the fall schedule.
At this point, performances are scheduled to resume Oct. 1 at Austin Town Hall, 5610 W. Lake St.
