Welcome to Bavaria, y’all! Mark Steuer combines seriously good cooking with a punster’s sense of humor at Funkenhausen, stirring together his German heritage and Southern upbringing to create mashups that include pretzel knots with white barbecue sauce and pimiento cheese, a Piggy Plate that might combine smoked pig tongue and rib tips, or even “schnitz and grits” on the brunch menu. Purists might squirm, but this place is pure fun. Read Phil Vettel’s full review of Funkenhausen.
