Kane County’s recycling center in Geneva is going to be closed temporarily starting Oct. 19 for driveway paving and other improvements on the site, the county said.
The closure is expected to last about a month, with the center expected to reopen in mid-November, according to a news release from the county.
The recycling center is at 517 E. Fabyan Parkway on the edge of Geneva and Batavia.
The county operates two “electronics and more” recycling centers that are open Monday through Friday year-round: the one on Fabyan Parkway and one at 900 Angle Tarn in West Dundee, according to the county’s website. Appointments are not needed to visit the sites.
The two centers accept items like electronics, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, clothing, books and child car seats, per the county’s website.
During the closure, the news release said, residents can find alternative recycling locations in the area through the Kane County Recycling Program’s online guide, which can be found at https://www.kanecountyil.gov/Recycling/Pages/Fabyan_Repaving.aspx.
