CLEVELAND — The Chicago White Sox announced their roster for the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Guardians ahead of Game 1 at Progressive Field.
The Sox will have 12 pitchers, two catchers, five infielders and seven outfielders. There was one roster change from the AL wild-card series, with pitcher Tyler Davis replacing pitcher Huáscar Brazobán.
“Looking at the roster we expected from the Guardians, which is pretty much the same position-player group that we know is very heavy left-handed,” manager Will Venable said on Saturday morning.
“They have matchup, switch hitters. And so having Tyler Davis, who is more neutral, and we like a little bit better versus lefties, was really kind of the calculus where (Brazobán) against Houston, for example, who is very right-handed, was a better fit.”
Game 1 of the best-of-five series begins at noon on Saturday. Here’s the full roster breakdown:

Right-handers Sean Burke, Tyler Davis, Erick Fedde, Jordan Hicks, Davis Martin, David Sandlin and Grant Taylor, and left-handers Bryan Hudson, Anthony Kay, Sean Newcomb, Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith
