After Geneva was designated a Bird City Illinois community earlier this year, the city’s Natural Resources Committee is highlighting local wildlife and natural areas by hosting its inaugural bird photo contest.

Participants may submit a new photo of one or more birds taken within Geneva’s municipal boundaries, which include the Fabyan Forest Preserve along the Fox River, Peck Farm Park and Prairie Green Preserve.

Photographers do not have to live in Geneva. The deadline to submit a photo through the city’s website is Dec. 31.

The top photos will be featured on the Natural Resources Committee’s social media channels and displayed at the 2027 Wine, Cheese and Trees fundraiser, officials said.

For more information about the bird photo contest, go to the city’s website at https://www.geneva.il.us/.
