If you see plumes of smoke on Chicago’s South Side near the Obama Presidential Center Monday and Tuesday, do not be alarmed.

The Chicago Alerts social media account alerted residents to smoke special effects near the Obama Center as well as the University of Chicago campus and the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.

The Chicago Film Office confirmed that the alert is related to filming on an episode of NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” at Dorchester Avenue between 55th Place and 56th Street wherein a “simulated rescue scene will be performed involving heavy plumes of SFX smoke on the rooftop and upper floors of the apartment building on S. Dorchester.”

Quickly dissipating smoke will be visible in the surrounding area.

“Chicago Fire” returns for its 15th season Oct. 7 on NBC.
