Riders evacuated a Green Line train heading to Forest Park Saturday afternoon after its wheels became misaligned, according to the Chicago Transit Authority.

While on its way to the Harlem/Lake station, the train proceeded through a track switch that hadn’t completed its proper alignment, putting front and rear train wheels on separate track segments, the CTA told the Tribune in a statement. The incident was not a derailment, and all train wheels remained on the tracks, according to the statement.

Buses transported riders along the affected areas while work crews returned the Green Line to normal operations, the CTA said. The Oak Park Fire Department responded to “ensure a safe evacuation of the affected train,” according to the statement.

The CTA did not provide further specifics on train delays or station closures. The Village of Oak Park did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
