
FALL TROUT FISHING TO KICK OFF AT HIDDEN LAKES FARM
Fall trout season will start at 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, with the early opening of the Hidden Lakes Trout Farm gates and concessions building.
The Bolingbrook trout farm at 475 Trout Farm Road will offer early fishing access to two stocked lakes, free hot chocolate, tea or coffee and doughnuts, the Forest Preserve District of Will County said.
No registration is required. Fishing licenses and trout stamps can be purchased at the bait shop.
All Illinois Department of Natural Resources and forest preserve rules and regulations apply.

TICKETS ON SALE FOR KIDSMATTER’S ANNUAL EMPOWER GALA
KidsMatter will celebrate its 25th anniversary with its annual Empower Gala at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Naperville, 1823 Abriter Court.
The fundraiser includes a gourmet dinner, live auction, paddle raise and local students sharing their stories, a news release said. The evening will celebrate the nonprofit group, which helps address mental health and development needs of youth and families.
KidsMatter brings together organizations and resources, including mental health professionals, schools, public safety agencies, faith-based communities and local businesses to benefit youth, the release said.
Throughout the years, the organization has addressed various stressors in children’s lives, such as alcohol and substance use and addictions, cyberbullying, suicidal thoughts, screen addiction and isolation. KidsMatter has increased its focus on youth mental health in the years since the COVID-19 pandemic, the release said.
Individual tickets are $175 and a table of 10 costs $1,650.
