Lincoln-Way Central makes biggest move up rankings topped by Lincoln-Way East and Mount Carmel.

1. Lincoln-Way East 5-0 (1): Aidan Cavanaugh continues to break off big runs for the Griffins, this time a 65-yarder for a touchdown to spark rally from early deficit in 38-17 win over Sandburg.

2. Mount Carmel 4-1 (2): Roman Igwebuike and the Caravan defense dominate previously unbeaten St. Patrick in a 55-7 victory, extending their winning streak to four straight.

3. Brother Rice 3-2 (4): The Crusaders get set for Friday night’s showdown with Mount Carmel as Brayden Parks and Kameron McGee look to slow down the Caravan offense.

4. Providence 4-1 (3): Sophomore defensive lineman Jaxson Hutton makes a bunch of big plays, but the Celtics’ offense can’t get going in a 17-7 loss to Nazareth.

5. Lincoln-Way Central 4-1 (9): Desmond Gill hauls in two TD catches as the Knights come back from down 17 points in the fourth quarter to stun Homewood-Flossmoor 38-27.

6. Homewood-Flossmoor 3-2 (5): After letting one slip away against Lincoln-Way Central, Rahsaan Coleman and the Vikings look to bounce back against Lincoln-Way West.

7. Sandburg 3-2 (6): With a punt block and an interception, Vinny Annel sparks the Eagles to an early lead, but they can’t beat Lincoln-Way East in back-to-back years.

8. Marist 3-2 (8): Jake Fleming throws three TD passes and the RedHawks roll to 48-7 win over Marmion. A major challenge is up next as unbeaten Loyola comes to visit Friday night.

9. Morgan Park 4-1 (10): Kenneth Sims scores TDs on a kickoff return and a punt return as the Mustangs roll to a 58-0 victory over Phillips. Huge Public League battle with Simeon is up next.

10. St. Rita 2-3 (7): Timmy Swanson catches an 8-yard TD pass from John Fennell but that’s one of the lone highlights for the Mustangs in a 42-16 loss to St. Ignatius.

Senior running back Jayden Schlosser runs for four TDs in Oak Lawn’s 49-24 South Suburban Red win over Shepard.

Defensive Player of the Week

Senior defensive back Dylan Travis returns two interceptions for TDs, one for 35 yards and another for 30 yards, in Joliet Catholic’s 56-6 victory over Marian Catholic.
