Multiple fire departments put out a house fire as firefighters rescued a resident in Park Ridge on Sunday
According to a news release, the Park Ridge Fire Department was dispatched to the 2000 block of Milton Avenue for a reported house fire around 12:46 p.m.
The first unit arrived on scene in less than four minutes and saw fire coming from a window on the side of the house. The Park Ridge Fire Department Command upgraded the response to a confirmed fire, bringing additional fire companies from neighboring fire departments to the location, the release said.
A neighbor reported the resident of the home was believed to be trapped inside the fire, and firefighters immediately began a coordinated fire attack and a search for the victim, according to the release. The first crews entering the home reported heavy fire conditions inside.
The resident was found in the basement and was quickly rescued from the fire and brought to an ambulance standing by for treatment and transportation to the hospital, fire officials said. There are no updates on the resident’s condition as of Monday.
Firefighters brought the fire under control by around 1:30 p.m., and there were no other injuries to fire personnel or civilians, the release said. Park Ridge firefighters were assisted on scene by fire companies from the Des Plaines, Morton Grove, Niles, and North Maine Fire Departments.
The MABAS Division 3 Fire Investigation Team responded with additional personnel and equipment, according to the release. They were assisted by personnel from the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal. Additionally, the Park Ridge fire stations were staffed by mutual aid crews from the Elk Grove Village, Franklin Park, Lincolnwood, and Schiller Park Fire Departments and these crews responded to two other emergency calls while PRFD units were committed at the fire.

The fire is classified as undetermined pending further investigation. Damage to the home and loss of contents is estimated at $300,000.
