Riot Fest announced plans to end early on Saturday amid forecasts of incoming storms heading toward the Chicago area.

At about 3:30 p.m., organizers announced: “In cooperation with our partners from the City of Chicago and out of abundance of caution for the safety of our fans, bands, and staff, Riot Fest will be ending early tonight due to inclement weather. For updated schedule and any further changes, please check Riot Fest socials and riotfest.org. Please be safe and watch for more updates.”

Sunday’s schedule, at this time, remains unchanged.

News was slow to reach fans already in the park as cell service was sparse. The reconfigured schedule, which pushed some of the remaining sets into the 20-minute territory, eliminated the hotly anticipated set from Afroman and called for the festival to end around 7 p.m., with Tool taking its headlining slot at 6 p.m.

Sugar’s Bob Mould, at the end of his set, laughed himself off the stage with, “Who knows who’s up next!”
