A motorist was injured after a Metra train and a car collided Friday afternoon in northwest suburban Barrington, police said.

An outbound Union Pacific Northwest train to Harvard struck a vehicle near the intersection of Hart Road and Northwest Highway around noon, according to Metra spokesperson Martha Hill. The driver was injured and transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, but his condition wasn’t released. No other injuries were reported.

Barrington Police and Metra Police Department were on the scene of the collision.

Due to the collision, several Union Pacific Northwest trains were delayed, some up to an hour, according to Hill. Passengers were told to expect delays and to check metra.com for updates.
