SAROSH SAHER NAMED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

The Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce has named Sarosh Saher as the new economic development director of its Elgin Development Group.

Saher is an Elgin resident who worked for the city of Elgin for 20 years as a senior planner and was community development director for Lake Zurich before taking the job with the chamber.

“It’s nice to come back to Elgin after a brief hiatus of 10 years,” Saher said in a news release. “I am excited to join the Elgin Development Group and work with the city of Elgin and our stakeholders to support existing businesses, attract new investment and create economic opportunities that benefit the entire community.

“From an economic development standpoint, Elgin has all the ingredients that companies look for today — a strategic location, a talented workforce, strong community partners and a leadership committed to growth.”

CARPENTERSVILLE FALL FEST POSTPONED UNTIL HALLOWEEN

Because the forecast calls for heavy rain, Carpentersville postponed its Fall Fest in Carpenter Park, originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, until Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31.

“We want this for our families, vendors and everyone who has worked so hard to make this event happen,” a village social media post said.

Fall Fest activities will now be incorporated into the Spooky Sprint 5K, Haunted Happenings and Trunk or Treat being planned ahead of the village’s 3 to 7 p.m. trick-or-treating hours that day, according to the post.

“The timing might just work out perfectly for families,” the post said. “So bring the kids in costume, spend the first part of Halloween with us at Carpenter Park and then head out into the neighborhoods for an evening of trick-or-treating.”
