The storms carry a limited damaging wind risk of up to 60 mph, officials said.
Scattered non-severe showers and thunderstorms are expected Tuesday morning north of Interstate 80, with possible storms in the afternoon hours Tuesday afternoon and evening that may produce strong winds and torrential downpours, officials said.
Additional storms are possible in the late afternoon hours with torrential downpours placing portions of the area at risk for flooding, officials said.
Current afternoon conditions at Chicago’s airports are mostly cloudy at 81 degrees. High temperatures are expected to reach the low 80s, dropping to the mid 60s in the night hours.
As of Tuesday morning, rain is expected through Saturday, officials said.
