Aaron Rodgers ripped into Shailene Woodley for being the reason their relationship ended in a candid conversation about the breakdown of their engagement.
The veteran quarterback opened up during a sit-down on Thursday with his Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Cam Heyward during his podcast “Not Just Football.” He met Woodley amid the COVID-19 pandemic and they quickly moved into together before Rodgers revealed in 2021 that they had quietly gotten engaged.
News of their split broke about a year later.
“I date Shailene, I propose and she says yes,” 42-year-old Rodgers recalled. “She maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision, she could have said no. But not a couple of days after that, she tells me before we get married like, ‘I got to go f–k this guy.’”
He continued: “‘Cause her story is, I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her, but in actuality she told me that and took off the ring by March.”

Rodgers added that they tried to reconcile on several occasions, but to no avail.
“There wasn’t even a relationship in ’22 to break off,” he said. “She literally told me I don’t want to be with you.”
Speaking of all the women he previously dated, Rodgers added: “The height of their fame was when they were with me.”

Woodley’s reps did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but she previously spoke about the end of her relationship with Rodgers in a 2022 interview with Outside magazine.
“I haven’t shared much about my relationship with Aaron because it always makes me cry,” she said. “It was not right. But it was beautiful.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Woodley, who didn’t mention Rodgers by name this time, said she “had a really awful, traumatic thing happen in early 2022,” which triggered six months of depression.
