A 6-year-old girl was killed Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a school bus in Frankfort, police said in a statement.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the girl as Jenna Menias of the 500 block of Aberdeen Road in Frankfort.
Officers responded at 3:24 p.m. to that block and found Menias unresponsive as a result of serious injuries from the collision, police said. Witnesses and first responders administered CPR and other life saving measures before Menias was taken by ambulance to Olympia Fields Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 4 p.m., the medical examiner’s office reported.
Frankfort Elementary District 157-C said in a statement that Menias was a student at Grand Prairie Elementary School and called the incident an “unimaginable loss.”
