Two bystanders were caught in the crossfire of a shooting Wednesday night in Lockport Township, with one killed and the other injured, the Will County sheriff’s office reports.

Michelle Robinson, 31, and an adult male were both rushed to a nearby hospital. Robinson was pronounced dead at 9:33 p.m. Wednesday night, Will County coroner’s office said. An autopsy was performed Thursday, and final cause and manner will later be determined. The man is expected to recover, police said.

Neighbors said Robinson had not lived in neighborhood a longtime and that she was a mother of four.

Deputies were called at 7:54 p.m. to a home on the 200 block of Dellwood Avenue in Lockport Township, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Preliminary investigations determined the victims were bystanders were caught in a crossfire while standing outside, according to the sheriff’s office.

Police left the scene around 1:50 p.m. and did not provide further details.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing but would not provide any additional information, including whether anybody was in custody or if there were any suspects in the shooting.
