A former substitute teacher at a Country Club Hills middle school was found not guilty on charges of child endangerment and battery last week.

Cook County Judge Koula Fournier acquitted Cheryl Moore of both charges following a bench trial Thursday, according to court records.

Moore was represented in her case by the Cook County public defender’s office.

“We are pleased that Ms. Moore’s name has been cleared and that she has finally found justice at the end of this long ordeal, which prevented her from continuing to do the work she loves,” Matthew Hendrickson, press secretary for the public defender’s office, said in an email.

Hendrickson said the outcome of Moore’s case was “an example of the diligent efforts that our attorneys put in for our clients every day to ensure that their rights are protected, that they are treated with dignity and are provided with the finest legal representation.”

Moore was charged with two counts of child endangerment and one count of battery following a news conference held by parents at Meadowview Intermediate School in May 2025, alleging that two students had been injured by a substitute teacher who became angry in a fourth grade classroom.

Moore could not be reached for comment, and calls made to Meadowview Intermediate School were not answered.
