Two south suburban men were ordered held in custody Friday after being charged with attempted first-degree murder, following a Wednesday shooting in Homewood that left one man in critical condition.
Brian Harris, 21, of Calumet City, and Jahlil Robinson, 21, of Lansing, were arrested after a man was shot multiple times on the 1300 block of Jeffery Drive Wednesday afternoon, according to the Homewood Police Department.
Harris and Robinson appeared Friday before Cook County Judge Luciano Panici, who ordered they both be detained while awaiting trial.
Panici called the shooting a “planned murder” and wrote in his order the two defendants posed a potential danger to both the victim and the wider community. Some bullets went into a house during the shooting, Panici said, and “by the grace of God no one was struck by those bullets.”
Following the shooting, the two fled police at speeds of over 100 mph, Panici said.
The victim was in critical condition as of Wednesday, police said.
The next court date for Harris and Robinson is Sept. 2 at the Cook County courthouse in Markham.
