Skokie police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old man found shot late Tuesday night, Aug. 11, on the 7400 block of McCormick Boulevard in the north suburb, per a department news release.

The fatal shooting took place at 11:07 p.m., police said. The location is in the southeast portion of Skokie.

Officers arrived on the scene to find the unidentified male victim suffering from “multiple gunshot wounds,” according to the release.

Emergency personnel provided first aid and took the victim via ambulance to a local hospital, but he died, police confirmed Wednesday.

“A preliminary investigation into the circumstances of this incident indicates that it was not a random act,” said Sergeant Brandi Shelton in a statement to Pioneer Press.

“There is no known threat to the public. The investigation is active, and additional details will be provided as the investigation allows.”

The North Regional Violent Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) was activated in response to the fatal shooting and is assisting the Skokie Police Department with their investigation.

This is the second homicide in Skokie this year, following the death of 21-year-old Jordan Buelvas, who died after suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside of his home in May.

Police have not made any arrests in relation to Buelvas’ death, despite recovering a vehicle in June allegedly involved in the shooting.
