A Hammond man is facing charges for allegedly pouring gas on a woman after an hours-long argument.

Ronald Robinson, 38, was charged this week with one count each of attempted murder and domestic battery and five counts of attempted arson.

His bail was set to $10,000 cash, filings show.

His next court date is Aug. 21.

Police responded just after 11 a.m. Aug. 10 after the woman’s son, 18, called 911.

The teen later told police he witnessed Robinson pouring gas “directly” on her head when she lay on the sofa, documents show.

Officers saw the woman’s shirt was “wet” and smelled like gasoline, the affidavit states.

She later told police they had been arguing from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. She was half-asleep when he allegedly started pouring gas “inside the residence” and on her “head and face,” the affidavit states.

Some got into her eye, charges allege.

After she ran to the kitchen faucet, she saw him trying to set a “puddle” of gas on fire that momentarily lit, then went out, documents state.

She alleged Robinson physically blocked her from grabbing the couple’s other children to leave, charges state. She took them outside once police arrived, the affidavit shows.

Robinson told police he was at his “breaking point,” documents state.
