The 174th Lake County Fair in Crown Point continues this weekend with a history dating back to 1852 at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St. in Crown Point. It opens Friday and continues through Aug. 16 with more than 30 carnival rides, a car show, Sunday church services, a live music stage, a wide range of games and food vendors. KAREN MILLS HEADLINES MUNSTER DEBUT

Women’s pro basketball star turned stage comic Karen Mills headlines her debut on the Theatre at the Center stage for one performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road in Munster. One of Mills’ last funny visits to Chicagoland was performing at the 3,500-seat Chicago Theatre as the opening comedy act for Leanne Morgan in October 2023. Mills is a nationally touring comedian with more than 30 years of experience bringing laughter to audiences across the country. For her Theatre at the Center stage debut, Mills will be joined by opening act comic Brian Hicks, who has taken the comedy world by storm with his insightful views on what people find funny. TULIPS AND WINDMILLS

The DeMotte Chamber of Commerce always hosts the community’s annual Touch of Dutch Festival on the second Saturday in August at Spencer Park in DeMotte, Indiana. This family-fun event on Saturday boasts 10,000-12,000 visitors and features a parade, a car show, free live entertainment, craft and food vendors, kids’ entertainment, giveaways, a beer garden and fireworks to end the evening. Launched in 1975, the festival is a nod to the community’s Dutch farming roots and cultural heritage and has become one of the longest continuing festivals in Jasper County. It includes the traditions of free admission, free shuttle service and plenty of free on-site handicap/elderly parking. TUNA TALE

Canterbury Summer Theatre’s season continues with their production of “Red, White and Tuna” by Ed Howard, Joe Sears and Jaston Williams. Running through Saturday, the 4th of July Tuna High School Class reunion takes over the third-tiniest town in Texas, bringing oddball humor and small-town satire into the spotlight.
