
PREVIEW EVENT FOR HISPANIC HERITAGE PROJECT
Elgin History Museum will host “Vinos Latinos,” a preview party for the Hispanic Heritage Project, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at its Old Main building, 360 Park St., Elgin.
The evening will feature a selection of wines and beers from Latin America provided by East Side Cafe in East Dundee, according to the museum’s website. Attendees will get a sneak peek at scenes from a documentary that is part of the Hispanic Heritage Project.
The documentary is part of “Nuestras Historias: Celebrating Hispanic Culture and Community,” a traveling exhibit that will be unveiled the evening of Friday, Aug. 21, at Elgin Community College’s Blizzard Theater.
Tickets to the preview party are $45 for museum members and $50 for nonmembers and can be purchased at elginhistory.org/event/vinos-latinos-preview-party.
RAKOW LIBRARY HOLDING MEGA FOAM PARTY
Absolute Science will entertain children with its Mega Foam Blaster from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Gail Borden Public Library’s Rakow Branch, 2751 W. Bowes Road, Elgin.
According to the Absolute Science website, the blaster uses “a dry stacking foam that evaporates for easy cleanup. It shoots out 40 feet and rotates 180 degrees. The foam is nonslippery, nontoxic, nonstaining, nonallergenic and is also bio-degradable.”

SENIOR STROLL AT FITCHIE CREEK PRESERVE
The Forest Preserve District of Kane County will hold a senior stroll from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 6, at Fitchie Creek Forest Preserve, 39W933 Russell Road, Elgin.
Open to anyone 50 or older, the walk will be led by naturalists offering information on the natural and cultural history of the land, according to a social media post. It will last about an hour, followed by time to socialize at the preserve’s shelter.

School District U-46 will host a job fair with onsite interviews for open positions from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 8, at the U-46 Welcome Center, 1019 E. Chicago St., Elgin.
