One person is in custody after officers on a well-being check Sunday in Morgan Township found a Valparaiso man, 69, dead inside a home, according to a release.
A Valparaiso woman, 32, was booked into Porter County Jail early Monday on a 48-hour hold for a murder charge, with formal charges to follow, according to a release from the Porter County Sheriff’s Department and jail records.
The Post-Tribune is not releasing the woman’s name because she has not been formally charged.
The Porter County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased person as Gregory Dolnics, according to the sheriff’s department.
Police declined to comment on whether the suspect and Dolnics lived at the same address or how they might be connected.
Around 7:56 p.m. Sunday, patrol officers with the Porter County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a residence south of Division Road on County Road 450 E for a well-being check, according to a release from that department. Officers located a deceased person inside the home.
The Porter County Emergency Response Team responded and took the woman into custody, police said.
Police said the case is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The sheriff’s department’s Detective Bureau is investigating.
