TEEN’S MURDER CASE DISMISSED

Prosecutors filed to dismiss a teen’s murder case in his friend’s April 2024 death, filings show.

Tramell McHenry was charged with murder, auto theft and intimidation.

Deputy Prosecutor Judy Massa wrote in a July 21 filing that they didn’t have “sufficient evidence” to prove it, but could refile it later.

East Chicago Police responded to the victim’s apartment on the 4900 block of Melville Avenue. There, they found Jamel Bardney, 18, curled up in a fetal position in his bedroom, shot once in the head.

He was shot at “point-blank” range and appeared “defenseless,” the affidavit stated.

McHenry was accused of stealing Bardney’s Buick LeSabre after his death, records allege.

McHenry, then 18, was granted bail in March.

CEDAR LAKE WOMAN FACES UP TO SIX YEARS IN DRUG DEATH

A Cedar Lake woman is facing up to six years after admitting she sold drugs in a fatal overdose.

Alexis Bahm, 28, admitted in documents to dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 5 felony.

If a judge accepts, a sentencing hearing is Sept. 14.

Court documents alleged she sold fentanyl-laced heroin to Andrew Parus, 49, of Hammond, before he died in February 2025.
