IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO FIX CLIMATE CHANGE
If I believe a situation is hopeless, why would I even try to change it? I wouldn’t. I confess that when I think about climate change, words like “too late” and “hopeless” often come to my mind. I feel trapped in two beliefs: that it is too late and that I am powerless anyway.
That’s why I found this book so transformational: “Not Too Late: Changing the Climate Story from Despair to Possibility” by Rebecca Solnit and Thelma Young Lutunatabua. The book is filled with stories about people and groups of people who are making a positive difference in the area of climate change, and with the message that the climate change ending is not written yet. When I read this book, I felt encouraged to try again to change what I can. And to believe the transformational truth that “together we can make it.”
As my young granddaughter told me when I was having trouble with a jigsaw puzzle, “Just try and try and you will get it, Grandma!”
I believe that if we all keep trying and trying, together, we can get this.
