The Kane County Fair celebrates its 157th year this week with the usual assortment of attractions and a visit from the iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

Things get underway from 3 to 11 p.m. Wednesday with a carnival-only event. Midway attractions expand throughout the fair’s run through Sunday to include a magic show, petting zoo, Swifty Swine Racing Pigs and a car show Saturday and Sunday.

A variety of fair food and beverages will be available from vendors, with 4-H Club members operating an ice cream booth.

Local 4-H members and their families also will present animal exhibits and competitions throughout the week before holding a champion livestock sale at 1 p.m. Sunday.

One of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles will make a stop

from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, with its crew handing out Wiener Whistles to guests.

Music is included with paid admission. Scheduled evening performers are Nashville-based country artist Eric Chesser Thursday, Dave Matthews Band tribute act Trippin’ Billies Friday, country artists Mark Atkins and Hillbilly Rockstarz Saturday, and local rock act Pino Farina Band Sunday.

Grandstand events include bull riding and barrel racing Thursday through Saturday and a demolition derby Sunday. Admission fees are charged.

Established in Aurora before moving to Elgin, the Kane County Fairgrounds permanently relocated to at Randall Road and Oak Street in St. Charles in 1955. It is one of the oldest continuous fairs in the United States, according to the fair’s website.

General admission is $5 Wednesday and $10 the remaining days. Children’s admission for ages 3 to 12 is $5 and free for those under 3.

Admission is free until 5 p.m. Thursday for those 62 or older and for members of the military with ID. Tickets for all five days are $25. Unlimited carnival ride passes are available for $32 through Fantasy Amusements.
