The cards includes the voter’s township and precinct, polling place and the offices for which they vote, a news release said.
Arriving in the coming days, the cards also include information on how to become an election judge and permanent vote-by-mail options.
Illinois statute requires the verification of voter registrations every two years, the release said. The mass mailing serves as one way to confirm whether a voter continues to live at the address to which they are registered.
Anyone who receives an ID card addressed to a previous resident should mark the envelope with “not at this address” and mail it back to the clerk’s office. No postage is required, the release said.
DUPAGE COUNTY WINS TWO NATIONAL AWARDS
National Association of Counties awarded DuPage County two achievement awards for its government services addressing health and food insecurity issues.
The county’s Crisis Recovery Center, which provides around-the-clock crisis assessment and stabilization services for those experiencing mental health or substance use crises, was recognized in the health category, a news release said.
The county was also recognized in the human services category for its initiatives to address food insecurity, the release said. The county recently allocated $6.8 million towards various food assistance programs.
Among the programs receiving funds were Naperville-based Loaves & Fishes Community Services, which received $2.5 million to expand the Aurora Food Distribution Hub; Northern Illinois Food Bank, which received $2 million to provide fresh produce to local pantries, and The Conservation Foundation Farm in Naperville, which was given $322,000 to expand its Food to Pantry program.
The National Association of Counties recognizes county services in 18 categories such as children and youth, criminal justice and public safety and civic engagement. Each nominated program is judged on its own merits and not against other applications, the release said.
