An Indiana woman signed a plea deal Tuesday admitting she bought the gun that ended up in a deadly Chicago Police shooting at Swedish Hospital, filings show.

Olivia Burgos, 23, of La Porte, pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court in Hammond to Making a False Statement in Connection with the Acquisition of a Firearm.

She faces up to 10 years in prison. However, federal prosecutors are expected to ask for a far lower, or minimum sentence.

A hearing is scheduled Wednesday.

Chicago Police Officer John Bartholomew, 38, died in the April 25 shooting. His partner, Nelson Crespo, was critically wounded.

Burgos bought the Glock 29 gun at Range USA in Merrillville in May 2024 for her then-boyfriend, a felon, who gave her the money to buy it, Assistant U.S. Attorney Caitlin Padula said previously.

Defense lawyer Visvaldis Kupsis argued in a previous hearing her drug addiction left her vulnerable for the boyfriend to take advantage of her.

Alphanso Talley, 26, is charged in the hospital shooting.

After being arrested in connection with a store robbery, Talley allegedly told police he had swallowed some drugs, so officers took him to Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital in the Lincoln Square neighborhood to get checked out.

What unfolded next was an act of violence that left one Chicago police officer dead and a second fighting for his life, authorities said. Talley allegedly was able to hide a gun until a CT scan was about to be performed. That’s when Talley allegedly pulled the pistol out from under a blanket, shooting one officer in the face and a second in the chin, authorities said. In outlining their case, authorities have not said how Talley ended up possessing the gun.
