A 47-year-old woman from New Lenox died in Kendall County after a tree fell on a camper trailer during severe weather over the weekend, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 3:12 p.m. Saturday, Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an RV resort in the 8500 block of Millbrook Road in Fox Township, a news release from the Sheriff’s Office said, for a report of a tree that had fallen on a camper trailer during severe weather. Upon arrival, deputies observed a camper trailer with a large tree on top of it, the release said.

A 47-year-old woman was found inside the trailer and pronounced dead at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said. It was determined that the woman was the sole occupant inside the trailer when the tree fell.

Two dogs were also found dead at the site from the wreckage, according to the Little Rock-Fox Fire Protection District, which said it was dispatched to the RV park campground on Saturday for a report of damage to property due to the storm moving through the area.

The past few days brought strong storms to the Chicago area, prompting some canceled and postponed Fourth of July events. Parts of nearby Aurora and Montgomery saw flooding and trees down following storms that hit the area.

Just across the state border, three children died in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, on Friday after a boat capsized as a strong storm passed through.

On Monday, following Saturday’s incident in Kendall County, the Kendall County Coroner’s Office identified the woman who died as Dana Jenner, 47, of New Lenox.

Preliminary investigation has indicated that Jenner sustained multiple injuries consistent with the reported circumstances, a news release from the Kendall County Coroner’s Office said. A forensic autopsy was scheduled for Monday, and the final cause and manner of death remain pending the autopsy results and further investigation by the Coroner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, officials said.
