Part of Geneva’s Third Street commuter parking deck in the city’s downtown will be closed for maintenance beginning Monday, the city said recently.

The parking deck’s second and third floors are slated to be shut down so that construction crews can replace expansion joints throughout the structure, according to a news release from the city. The floors will also be sealed to help keep moisture and road salt from reaching the steel reinforcement bars.

The closure of the deck’s upper levels will begin on July 6 and last until July 24, the city said. An electronic message board at the parking deck will notify commuters and downtown visitors of the construction project.

Once the first floor of the parking deck reaches capacity, commuters can use the Route 31 overflow parking lot, which is located southeast of the Union Pacific West Railway train bridge, the news release said.
