Man found fatally mauled in Back of the Yards

A man attacked by at least one dog was found dead Thursday night in the yard of a home in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, authorities said.

The 56-year-old was discovered about 8:50 p.m. Thursday outside a residence in the 2000 block of West 47th Street, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Autopsy results released Friday said the man died of “multiple injuries” related to “dog mauling,” and his death was ruled an accident. The man’s home address wasn’t known Friday afternoon and his family couldn’t be reached for comment.

It was not clear how many dogs were involved in the attack. CPD said detectives are conducting a death investigation.
