A pedestrian was killed in a multivehicle crash Monday at 149th Street and LaGrange Road in Orland Park near Orland Square mall, according to the Orland Park Police Department.
The collision involved four cars and the pedestrian, police said in a statement. The busy, multi-lane intersection was temporarily closed while police investigated.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office declined to identify the victim, saying family had not yet been notified.
“On behalf of the Orland Park Police Department, I want to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones affected by this incident,” Orland Park police Chief Eric Rossi said in a statement. “Our thoughts remain with them during this incredibly difficult time.”
The investigation is ongoing, Rossi said in his statement.
In response to Rossi’s statement, commenters on social media called attention to a persistent issue of cars speeding down LaGrange Road, with some calling for stronger policing or traffic calming measures along the road.
