LE CREN’S REPORTING ON GIRLS SOFTBALL TOP-NOTCH

Hats off to Naperville Sun sports reporter Matt Le Cren for his top-of-the-game articles on girls softball. (“Hats off to Miller, “June 19, 2026).

After reading the downer news of warmongering federal misleaders bent on divide and conquer, plunder and private profit, I welcome reading Le Cren’s uplifting stories about human potential nurtured for the good of the team and fair play in the face of adversaries.

Le Cren’s interviews with team members and coaches consistently hit home how sports competition strengthens bodies and minds to bring out the best in people — confidence, cooperation, leadership, skills and tenacity. His reports on the increasing capacity and development of girls playing softball underscore the ongoing positive impact of Title IX, the 1972 federal law banning sex-based discrimination in government-funded education programs. Fifty-years of equality in sports for all girls and women and, I would add, those who identify as transgender, makes a big difference.

You go, girls! You have a world to win with many of us on your side.
