An Oak Park man is facing a murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting earlier this week of a bicyclist riding in the Loop near Grant Park, authorities said.
Eliel Argudo-Tenorio, 18, faces one count of first-degree murder, according to Chicago police.
Around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, the 27-year-old victim was riding a bike in the 300 block of East Jackson Street when he heard shots and felt pain.
The victim, Malik Jones, 27, of the 1400 block South Canal Street, was taken with a gunshot wound to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, but later was pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled that Jones died due to multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.
Argudo-Tenorio was arrested Tuesday night, about 18 hours after the shooting in the 900 block of South Humphrey in Oak Park, where he lives, police said. Authorities did not say what may have led to the shooting.
