A consultant working with Hinsdale on a Parks Comprehensive and Strategic Master Plan is currently in the process of obtaining statistically valid survey results from a representative sample of residents.
The Village Board approved an agreement for the plan in October 2025 with Upland Design, Ltd. The plan will evaluate existing parks, recreation, open spaces and facilities, and provide recommendations for programs and services, according to assistant village manager Andrianna Peterson. The plan will also outline a 10-year implementation strategy, she said.
“Once the representative sample goal is met, the survey will be made available to the public at-large,” Peterson said, adding that the survey has about 30 questions and a place for written comments.
“The village and the consultant expect a high response rate to help inform this important planning document,” she said. “The village’s consultant is targeting a sample of the community that accurately reflects Hinsdale’s characteristics to validate the results.”
Peterson said the consultant will use information provided as a part in the development and recommendations of the Comprehensive Plan.
“In addition to the survey, resident input has been encouraged through various other opportunities including pop-up events, a community open house, public meetings and direct stakeholder meetings,” she said. “The survey responses will be used by the consultant as one important component to help inform the Master Plan.”
Village President Greg Hart said the planning effort is about making thoughtful investments that will serve residents not just today, but for generations to come.
“Hinsdale’s parks are more than just recreational spaces, they are gathering places where memories are made, traditions are built, and community comes together,” he said. “As our community evolves, it is important that our parks, open spaces, and recreational amenities evolve with it, reflecting the needs and interests of residents of all ages and backgrounds.”
Hart said the Parks Master Plan gives the village an opportunity to create a long-term vision that preserves what makes Hinsdale special while ensuring public spaces continue to enrich the quality of life that residents expect.
The timeline for the Parks Comprehensive and Strategic Master Plan continues in July and August with plan development, review meetings with village staff and the Village Board, and a community open house. The final draft of the plan is scheduled to be completed in August or September.
