National Weather Service officials said there is a low risk of thunderstorms and up to 60 mph winds Saturday afternoon and evening for portions of north central and northeast Illinois as well as northwest Indiana.

Officials said damaging wind up to 60 mph is possible in Illinois in Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy, Kankakee, Livingston, Iroquois, Ford, northern, southern and central Cook counties, as well as northern, southern and eastern Will County. In Indiana, Lake, Porter, Newton, Jasper and Benton counties, officials said.

Large hail up to a quarter-sized may fall during the possible storms. A few of the storms may become severe as the day progresses, mainly in the evening hours, officials said.

Current afternoon conditions at O’Hare International Airport are partly cloudy at 83 degrees. Farther south at Midway Airport, conditions are mostly cloudy and breezy at 81 degrees.

In recent days, tornadoes

tore through the area damaging property, but no deaths were reported.

There also is a slight risk of flooding Saturday in some areas.
