
Weather officials are expecting temperatures in the high 80s and low 90s leading up to Thursday when severe thunderstorms are expected with a possibility of damaging wind and large hail.
Starting Tuesday in portions of north central and northeast Illinois, and northwest Indiana, there is a low risk of thunderstorms.

A thunderstorm or two may develop in the area Tuesday night with a risk of damaging winds up to 65 mph and hail up to a half dollar in size.
From Wednesday through Thursday, the risk of thunderstorms elevates when multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms are expected. But the greatest risk for severe weather will be Thursday, officials warn.
Flooding is possible in some areas.
Current afternoon conditions at O’Hare International Airport are mostly cloudy at 86 degrees. Farther south at Midway Airport, conditions are similar.
Tuesday’s high temperature is expected to reach at least 86 degrees, with Wednesday’s high temperature expected to reach 92 degrees. On Thursday, temperatures will lower slightly to 89 degrees when severe thunderstorms are expected, officials said.
The Chicago Department of Family and Support Services is opening twelve cooling centers from Tuesday through Thursday. The cooling center locations include:

Martin Luther King Center, 4314 S. Cottage Grove Ave.
North Area Center, 845 W. Wilson Ave.
South Chicago Center, 8650 S. Commercial Ave.
Trina Davila Center, 4312 W. North Ave.
Central West Senior Center, 2102 W. Ogden Ave.
Northeast Senior Center, 2019 W. Lawrence Ave.
Northwest Senior Center, 3160 N. Milwaukee Ave.
Renaissance Court, 78 E. Washington St.
Southeast Senior Center, 1767 E. 79th St.
Southwest Senior Center, 6117 S. Kedzie Ave.
The centers are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for Renaissance Court, which is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
