More than a dozen residents were displaced after three separate house fires in Aurora between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, according to the Aurora Fire Department.

Two of the fires occurred in homes on the city’s East Side a little outside of downtown Aurora, while another occurred on the city’s far East Side.

The first fire occurred on Saturday around 1:55 p.m. in the 1400 block of Greenlake Drive, the Aurora Fire Department said in a news release. Arriving crews found fire involving the roof area of a 2½-story single-family home.

All of the home’s occupants were out of the residence, and firefighters worked to check for fire extension into the attic, the fire department said. No injuries were reported, but the home was deemed uninhabitable, displacing four adults.

The second fire occurred Sunday at around 4:31 a.m. in the 500 block of South Fourth Street, the department said in the news release. Arriving crew members found smoke coming from the attic area of a 2½-story single-family home, and firefighters then advanced a hose line to the attic and brought the fire under control.

No injuries were reported in the fire, but 11 adults were displaced and two cats were rescued, the department said.

The third fire happened a few hours later, at around 9:41 a.m., per the news release from the fire department. Crews arrived at the 200 block of Zengele Avenue to find fire conditions on the front side of a two-story single-family home. Firefighters used multiple hose lines, conducted searches and performed ventilation and overhaul operations in response to the fire, the department said.

One adult resident was transported for smoke inhalation, and a firefighter was transported for evaluation of a minor injury, per the fire department. The home was ultimately deemed uninhabitable, displacing one adult.

All of the fires remain under investigation by Aurora Fire Department fire investigators, the department said.
